On November 19, the 68th Macau Grand Prix started its first race day. British SPEEDLINE assisted Hong Kong champion Yan Zhuowei and Huang Chuhan of the Fanshide NewFaster team to fight Haojiang again and Legendary Street again, striving to go further.
Today's schedule is quite tight. After a session of practice, the qualifying will start in the afternoon. In other words, all participating drivers have only one session to familiarize themselves with the track before entering the qualifying session.
Hong Kong driver Yan Zhuowei drove the Civic Type R steadily at the beginning, and once rose to the second position. The Chinese driver Huang Chuhan driving Audi RS3 also rose to the fifth place, which was smooth.
The 6.2-kilometer Guia Ring Mountain Circle is known for its thrills and excitement. The track has both super-high-speed sections that fly through the bustling downtown and continuous curves that shuttle through winding mountain roads. In order to pursue the ultimate speed, drivers often need to cling to guardrails and rocks, and walk between the limits. At the same time, street racing also has the characteristics of constantly changing grip, so there is very little room for error for the driver. Yan Zhuowei and Huang Chuhan are both experienced drivers on the Macau circuit. They took the lead in setting a basic time at the start of the race, and then made an impact. Sure enough! There was an accident on the fifth lap and a red flag was raised.
The race resumed after a five-minute pause, with only 13 minutes left in the qualifying session. The other drivers were not to be outdone, and their lap times continued to increase. Yan Zhuowei fell to fifth place, and Huang Chuhan was also squeezed out of the top ten. After some cars had returned to the maintenance area, with only three minutes remaining, the two drivers pushed forward at full speed again, hoping to achieve a faster lap time.
Live up to expectations, Yan Zhuowei ended the qualifying in third place, and Huang Chuhan finished in ninth place.
On Saturday, the first round of the Macau Guia Race will start. We look forward to the wonderful performances of the two drivers of the NewFaster team, Huang Chuhan, and Hong Kong driver Yan Zhuowei!
